InTransit is a partnership of professionals offering psychological and medical help and services to missionaries and sending agencies. We work in and from our office in The Netherlands. Consultation and services through email, life video and telephone are also available.
The following services are offered:
Assessment
InTransit screens people in the process of selection and preparation. In the assessment report the personality is described. The implications of certain traits and behavioural tendencies for living and working in a foreign culture are discussed. Recommendations for further preparation and support are made.
Counselling
InTransit offers counselling and coaching to expatriates and repatriates for psychosocial and cross-cultural problems e.g. burnout, acculturation, adjustment problems, posttraumatic stress, anxiety, marital problems, re-entry, Third Culture Kid problems.
Debriefing
InTransit debriefs expatriates: a personal debriefing after a field period, aimed at helping to integrate the experience into their life as a whole; or trauma debriefing taking place after a traumatic experience (e.g. natural disaster, accident, violent incident).
Training
InTransit offers training and workshops in the field of crosscultural psychology. Participants are trained theoretically and practically in subjects related to living and working abroad and the transition experience. Subjects are: assessment and attrition prevention, re-entry, coping with stress and culture shock, living and working in a multicultural team, expatriate family life, trauma and trauma counselling, debriefing.
Consultancy
InTransit advises individuals, sending agencies and companies who have questions about cross-cultural psychological processes and transition processes (both when leaving one’s own country and at re-entry). Spouse and children can be involved.
Medical consultation and Advice
InTransit offers consultation about and referral to specialist medical help for physical and mental health problems as well as medical and psychological advise and consultation at the interface of mission, work, legislation and health. Coaching is also available with employability during and after illness.
Mission Kids / Third Culture Kids / Adult Third Culture Kids
InTransit helps Mission Kids / Third Culture Kids who struggle with losses, identity questions, uprooting and integration of their past. MKs and TCKs that have since grown up are also welcome.
